The Benefits of Using Raw Honey in Your Skin Care Routine
Pure Raw Honey for Skin Care

Natural skincare

Utilizing the benefits of a very versatile ingredient; honey

We talk a lot about eating honey but let's talk about honey for skincare. There's so many ways to use honey to benefit your body. Here's why it's great for skin:

• Natural moisturizer - honey has the ability to draw and retain moisture to the skin
• Anti-inflammatory - to reduce redness and aid with skin conditions like eczema
• Anti-microbial/anti-bacterial - aids in keeping skin clean and free from infections/breakouts
• Nutrient powerhouse - full of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and amino acids to fight free radicals
• Natural exfoliant - helps to scrub away debris that causes blackheads
• Skin Brightener - It can help reduce the appearance of acne scars and brighten a dull complexion
• Promotes Healing - perfect for sunburns and reducing everyday redness

The easiest way to incorporate honey into your skincare routine is to add a spoonful to your existing products when you use them. But if you're feeling crafty, here's some at home skin care recipes you can make right now!

• Lemon Honey Face Mask
• Honey Coffee Face Scrub
• Lavender Honey Face Wash
• Honey Citrus Bath Soak

While honey can help with things like dry skin, acne, redness and fine lines we want to remind you that all of those things are normal! You do not need perfect skin. Honey is just a great way to alleviate the discomfort of some common skin care troubles and a skin care routine is a fun way to do self care.

Lemon Honey Face Mask | Brightens, exfoliates + moisturizes

1/8 cup oatmilk
2 Tbl lemon juice
1/2 banana
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup baking soda

Combine the lemon and baking soda in a small bowl. This will fizz up from the reaction of the two ingredients. Let sit until fizz resides. Blend the oatmilk, banana and honey until smooth and fluffy. Add the lemon and baking soda mixture and blend until incorporated. Apply to face and rinse off after 10 mins.

We don't recommend using a dairy based milk as dairy products are terrible for your skin. You can substitute with another dairy alternative like coconut or almond milk.

Honey Coffee Face Scrub | Exfoliates + moisturizes

1/3 cup coconut oil
1/2 cup fresh coffee grounds
1/2 cup honey
2 Tbl brown sugar

Combine the coffee grounds and brown sugar. Mix until well combined. Your coconut oil might be solidified depending on the temperature in your home. If needed, microwave for a couple seconds until the coconut oil liquifies. Pour into the coffee and brown sugar mixture. Add honey. Stir until well combined.

This scrub can also be used anywhere you have dry skin like elbows, knees or heels. It may become very thick depending on the temperature of the coconut oil but as you rub on your skin the friction will heat it and make it easier to use.

Lavender Honey Face Wash | Reduces redness, blemishes + blackheads

1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup baking soda
1-2 drops lavender oil
1 tsp Castile soap
1 Tbl apple cider vinegar

Combine the Castile soap, lavender oil, baking soda and honey and mix until smooth. Stir in the apple cider vinegar. For a deep clean you ca use immediately while the mixture fizzes. Or, for more sensitive skin, let it rest until the fizzing subsides.

Wet your skin and apply the face wash. Rub gently in circular motions over your skin. Rinse well. Follow with your favorite moisturizer.

Honey Citrus Bath Soak | Moisturizing, anti-aging + relaxing

1/4 cup raw honey
1-2 drops orange oil
1 warm bath
1 good book (optional)

Mix the essential orange oil into the honey and drizzle into your bath water. You can also add fresh flowers, hang eucalyptus from your shower head (the scent will be released from the steam of the bath) and enjoy a good book or an herbal tea.
